Job Responsibilities:

1. Effectively provides psychiatric services, which reflect, approved clinical standards of the SalusCare in the assessment and treatment of adults and children.  This includes:
? assessment of the individual’s mental health status, 
? diagnostic impressions supported by the presenting symptoms, 
? clinical summary and treatment recommendations; 
? clinical interpretation of assessment information and treatment recommendations supported by assessment information.  
Documentation will reflect implementation of these standards.

2. Independently obtains health histories and performs physical assessments on a selected patient population at the discretion of the Senior Psychiatrist and/or Medical Director.

3. Routinely provides medical monitoring through tracking of medical problems and lab values until resolution. Practices safety, environmental and/or infection control methods.

4. Successfully conducts medication management follow-up visits; evaluates response to treatments and responds with appropriate interventions. Ability to evaluate for side effects and take appropriate actions.

5. Maintains appropriate protocols; participates in regular supervision with protocol physician(s). Notifies attending or on-call physician, as appropriate, for abnormal, unusual or unexpected events/problems requiring direct physician consultation. Treatment recommendations and referrals for care are made as appropriate.

6. May perform Psychiatric Evaluation, on eligible outpatient patients, including diagnostic formulation and formulation of treatment plan and initializing pharmacotherapy, as appropriate.  Will complete psychiatric follow-up on patients on Baker Act/petitions but not initial evaluation that must be completed by the psychiatrist.

7. Effectively prescribes medication in accordance with SalusCare formulary and effectively informs patient and/or family and support system of risks/benefits and potential side effects.

8. Routinely maintains accurate, complete and concise documentation (assessments, treatment plans and reviews, progress notes, etc.) that are legible, complete and filed within established time guidelines.

9. Consistently meets department productivity expectations which includes billing 70% of worked time.  

10. Routinely demonstrates a sound understanding of and commitment to complying with CARF and other regulatory standards for the assigned program.

11. Consistently displays cultural competence and sensitivity in patient care delivery. Ensures services provided incorporate patient-specific cultural values, reflected in assessments, treatment planning and direct patient care.

12. Actively participates in treatment planning and case staffing session daily. Attends family meetings, as appropriate, and assures feedback of significant treatment information to family members.

13.  Reliably interfaces with other internal and external treatment professionals, as appropriate, to coordinate patient care.

14.  Consistently remains current on programmatic issues, medical standards and performance improvement strategies within the department. Participates in weekly staff meetings and/or reviews meeting minutes and handouts to remain current with medical and pharmacy practice standards. Participates in committees and performance improvement activities within the programs and agency.  Participates in Peer Review process.

15.  Provides periodic in-service training to SalusCare staff. Provides education to patients about medications, health issues, etc. Shares knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of mental health/substance abuse.

16. Maintains compliance with all mandatory training and minimal hours of in-service training required by SalusCare and licensing agencies. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

17.  Enhances internal communication and networking throughout SalusCare.  Communicates and interacts effectively with other staff within the company. 

18. Facilitates and promotes a team which reflects the vision and mission of the company. Interacts with co-workers and patients in a professional and ethical manner. 

19. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to work with a varied patient population.

20. Will attain competence with the appropriate software used at SalusCare and use it effectively within required timeframes.

21. Successfully completes other related duties as assigned by supervisor.



Job Qualifications:
Requires either an MS degree in Nursing with 2 (two) years’ experience as a Psychiatric APRN OR an MS degree in Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Must possess a clear/active Florida license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.  ANCC or AANP certificate in Psychiatry/Mental Health Specialty required. Active DEA certificate within 3 months of start date required. Must be able to attain competency with electronic health record and use it effectively within required timeframes.
