Job Responsibilities:
This is a lead position for the Outpatient Psychiatry Department. The Senior Nurse is a non-supervisory position that greatly supports the program/department supervisors in the effective management of their area of responsibility. The Senior serves as an effective role model to the employees in their assigned program/department.

1. Consistently capable of performing all function of an Outpatient Nurse. Takes initiative to cover this role as needed.

2. Reliably arranges and/or monitors the schedule for accuracy and proper staffing levels with consideration of funding source requirements.

3. Effectively train new Outpatient Nursing Staff on department specific routines and requirements. Monitors, identifies needs, and provides in-service training to same, as needed.

4. Maintains strong working relationship with Outpatient Office Manager and/or Outpatient Psychiatry Program Administrator, and other Medical Leadership.

5. Routinely demonstrates a sound understanding of and commitment to complying with CARF standards for the Outpatient Services program.

6. Reliably initiates planning, performance, analysis and follow-up of peer review system.

7. Effectively provides conflict resolution to Outpatient clinical staff as needed, promptly informs Outpatient Office Manager and/or Outpatient Psychiatry Program Administrator of all such occurrences, as appropriate.

8. Reliably assists, as directed, in investigation and resolution of client and clinical staff complaints.

9. Participates in the development and review of operating procedures pertaining to clinical care, treatment and regulatory compliance, and flow of the clinic in consultation with the Outpatient Office Manager and/or Outpatient Psychiatry Program Administrator, Medical Leadership, and/or appropriate agency committees.

10. Responsible for monthly reporting as directed. Does so in a timely and accurate manner.

11. Reliably maintains active participation in at least one Committee or performance improvement team and attends that and other meetings as assigned or necessary.

12. Acts as Nursing Staff liaison by attending relevant med staff meetings and disseminates pertinent information to nursing staff and by communicating clinically appropriate information day-to-day between nurses and doctors or others involved in an individual's care.

13. Consistently ensures adequate amounts of supplies are available at all times. Completes inventory checks, purchase requests and/or check requests in a timely and accurate manner.

14. Reliably operates as back-up to the Outpatient Office Manager and/or Outpatient Psychiatry Program Administrator when needed.

15. Reliably identifies and shares areas of concern related to programmatic or fiscal functions, with recommendations for improvement, to the Outpatient Practice manager and Assistant Vice President of Outpatient Services.

16. Consistently collaborates with the Outpatient Psychiatry Program Administrator regarding evaluations and required disciplinary action (up to and including termination) of Outpatient Nursing staff, as needed.

17. Reliably maintains confidentiality of employee related information.

18. Constructively offers input into interviews, hiring review and discipline of assigned personnel.

19. Consistently demonstrates strong customer service and ensures that clinical staff provide appropriate 

20. services to clients being mindful of flexibility to clients and their schedules while ensuring appropriate departmental flow.

21. Consistently places customer services in a priority position when working with patients ensuring their needs are fully met and the patient feels cared for while they are visiting SalusCare.

22. Consistently operates as a back-up to alternate department(s) when requested.

23. Consistently demonstrates and models attitudes and knowledge consistent with co-occurring best-practice standards and ensures staff are trained and practice accordingly.
24. Consistently displays cultural competence and sensitivity and ensures services provided (evaluations, treatment plans, discharge planning) incorporate client-specific cultural values.
25. Will attain competence with electronic health record software and use it effectively within required time frames.

26. Reliably maintains own compliance with staff development training requirements.

27. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Job Qualifications:
Requires a valid Florida RN Nursing License. Experience in a health/human service field preferred. Knowledge of substance abuse/mental health preferred. Must be able to attain competency with company electronic health record and use it effectively within required timeframes. Requires basic clerical skills including but not limited to writing, taking accurate phone messages, working with multiline phone system, copying, faxing, shredding, basic computer literacy.
