Job Responsibilities:

1. Effectively completes mental health assessments of individuals presenting to the Emergency Services Department, in accordance with Agency policy and procedure, contract agencies and CARF, DCF, SAMH, and monitoring groups.  Document assessment results and behavioral observations in the clinical EMR.  

2. Effectively determines patient funding source by verification and consistently obtains insurance authorization/pre-certifications as required for patient’s prior to services being rendered in the program.

3. Successfully participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary evaluation team.

4. Effectually communicates with psychiatrists and clinical psychologist regarding care needs of individuals receiving services in the ES department.

5. Ensures availability to assist with 24/7 staffing needs.

6. Thoroughly audits and insures the completion of treatment plans, intake assessments, psychosocial assessments, as well as state outcomes and substance abuse assessments.

7. Safely assists with de-escalation of agitated patients utilizing TEAM techniques.

8. Accurately completes Quality and completeness review by the end of every month and actively participates in receiving feedback related to job performance.

9. Routinely attends scheduled staff meetings to receive appropriate supervision and program/facility specific information.

10. Communicates with all ES staff in an open and timely manner regarding the status, behavior, and the needs of individuals who present in the ES department.

11. Dependably responds to all incoming phone lines for the ES department, including ES information and referral telephone line and prepare proper documentation of answered calls.

12. Continuously sustains knowledge of area resources and effectively communicate information about resources to individuals requesting information from the ES department.

13. Accurately maintains a written and electronic daily log of persons accessing services through the ES department.

14. Consistently meets and retains a weekly tally of patient non-specific hours in accordance to the Duty Roster.

15. Consistently displays cultural competence and sensitivity when assessing and ensures services provided incorporate patient-specific cultural values.

16. Consistently complies with Florida Baker Act, ADM, AHCA and CARF standards for Emergency Services.

17. Regularly maintains compliance with staff development training requirements for position.

18. Successfully attains/maintain competency with the agency clinical computer software and use it effectively within required time frames.

19. Reliably completes other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling or related field and (1) one year of experience providing direct care services in a behavioral health setting. OR a Master’s degree in the human service field; experience providing direct care services in a behavioral health setting preferred. Must be able to attain competency with the electronic health record and use it effectively within required timeframes.
