Job Responsibilities:
Highly responsible professional position providing monitoring and medication dispensing to adult Detox patients as well as chart/electronic health record documentations.

1. Effectively performs the following tasks: 
a. provides basic medical/surgical nursing duties; 
b. provides emergency care (CPR, First Aid, etc.); 
c. demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the signs and symptoms of withdrawal; 
d. receives and transposes physicians orders correctly; 
e. administers different types of injections.  
f. Complete and accurate intake assessments

2. Consistently demonstrates a strong knowledge and/or correct application of: 
a. medications, dosages, routes and side effects; 
b. appropriate protocols for detoxing; 
c. receiving and giving accurate report on patients; 
d. descriptive shift charting 
e. answers business phones and directs calls appropriately; 
f. Provides leadership to the Behavioral Health Technicians.
g. Keeps work area neat and clean

3. Consistently complies with mandates of all SalusCare/DECAF/CARF and other applicable fund source regarding documentation - including quality and timeliness.  Routinely demonstrates a sound understanding of and commitment to compliance with these standards for the Detox unit.

4. Routinely displays a working knowledge of applicable state & federal laws as well as SalusCare and department policies and procedures.

5. Successfully uses time management skills to ensure that patient care is provided in a timely and efficient manner.  

6. Promptly reports to supervisor any problems in program effectiveness.  Successfully works with co-workers and supervisors to make appropriate changes to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency. Works with other staff to ensure patient needs are met.

7. Reliably attends relevant meetings/committees and offers improvement suggestions. Commendably serves on committees as needed. Involved in professional associations outside of SalusCare. 
8. Regularly follows agency and external policy, constantly striving to improve patient care and record keeping; responds positively to peer and supervisory feedback to improve service delivery. 

9. Continuously: promotes an overall professional presentation to co-workers, patients and community; Conducts self in professional and ethical manner with co-workers and patients; accepts responsibility of own actions and conduct.

10. Routinely willing to take on additional duties to assist supervisor and co-workers. Dependably works hours that are needed to ensure the needs of program are met.  

11. Effectively thinks and functions in a crisis situation with minimal supervision.  Appropriately handles difficult situations with co-workers and patients. 

12. Actively utilizes staff training opportunities to enhance skills needed for delivery of patient services.  Obtains a minimum 16 hours of training per year and attends all mandatory training.  Meets CEU requirements for licensure/certification as applicable.

13. Regularly shows a willingness to assist supervisor, co-workers and other SalusCare personnel. 

14. Routinely identifies problems and works together in problem solving activities.

15. Successfully shares job responsibilities evenly and regularly assists others when needed.

16. Routinely demonstrates good attendance and reliability by doing the following: consistently reports to work on time; reliable work performance; no abuse of leave/PTO policy; adequately plans leave and makes every effort to cover responsibilities in exigencies and coordinates training/workshops/meetings with supervisor as necessary.  

17. Satisfactorily completes job tasks as assigned. 

18. Routinely demonstrates a sound understanding of and a commitment to complying with CARF standards for the Detox unit.

19. Effectively attains competence with agency electronic health record and uses it effectively within required time frames.

20. Consistently displays cultural competence and sensitivity and ensures services provided incorporate patient-specific cultural values.

21. Successfully performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications:
Requires a valid Florida RN OR LPN Licensure and Nursing Degree. Basic computer skills and good communication skills required. Previous detoxification experience and knowledge of substance abuse treatment modalities preferred.  Requires the ability to attain competency with the company electronic medical records and use it effectively within the required time frames.
